How to Draw a Dalmatian
Step 1:
Draw a circle on your page. This circle doesn’t need to be perfect, a rough sketch will do. Then draw a reference grid on the face. This will come in handy later on.
Step 2:
Draw two more circles for the body. The bigger circle in the middle is for the front body of the dalmatian. And the smaller circle is for the back part of the body.
Step 3:
Join up the body and head. Your Dalmatian dog is almost taking shape. If you like drawing dog bodies, take a look at our cool and furry husky dog drawing tutorial.
Step 4:
Draw your Dalmatian dog’s feet. You can draw a reference point for the ground first. Then draw the four small paws.
Step 5:
Draw lines for the legs. These lines will act as guidelines for where your Dalmatian’s legs will be and their correct size.
Step 6:
Add some meat to those legs. Join up the legs to the body with some extra lines.
Step 7:
Draw the dog’s snout. To do this, you’ll need to draw another smaller circle coming off your Dalmatian’s head. Then join it up to the head to create a dog snout shape.
Step 8:
Outline the mouth. The mouth will look slightly smiley.
Step 9:
Open your Dalmatian’s mouth. Draw another wide oval coming off the snout area. This will make your dog’s mouth look open.
Step 10:
Draw the eye and nose. This is pretty simple, just a circle shape for the eye and nose.
Step 11:
Draw the ear. The ear is kind-of a rectangular shape for a dalmatian dog, with rounded ends.
Step 12:
Draw your Dalmatian’s tongue and teeth. Give that open mouth some more detail by sketching in the hanging tongue and small Dalmatian teeth.
Step 13:
Draw the dog collar and tail line. The dog tail is just a curved line at the back of your Dalmatian.
Step 14:
Add details to the paws. Give those paws some little doggy fingers. And then add some meat to your Dalmatian’s tail.
Step 15:
Draw in random spots all over the body. Dalmatian spots are not solid circles, so keep it natural. Natural Dalmatian spots are wobbly, splodges of dark marks in random places on the body. You can then colour in the nose and eyes a black colour.
Step 16:
Using a fine marker pen outline your Dalmatian. Then rub out any unwanted pencil marks. Finally, you can colour in your Dalmatian’s collar and mouth area or leave it all black and white.
You got yourself a happy little Dalmatian Drawing! Now that you know how to draw a Dalmatian, you can draw more Dalmatians anywhere you like. Why not create your own greeting card with a hand-drawn Dalmatian as the cover or sketch your book illustrations for an upcoming doggy story you might be writing.
