How to Draw an Easy Dog Instructions
Instructions on how to draw a simple standing dog:
Start by drawing three rough circles on your page. The first circle will be your dog’s head. The second similar-sized circle will be the front body of the dog. And the smallest circle is the back body of the dog where the tail will go soon.
Your circles don’t have to be perfectly round. A good tip for drawing circles is to lightly sketch the circle in short pencil strokes. Instead of trying to draw the circle all in one stroke – Which can be very difficult even for expert artists.
Join in the three circles. By joining in the circles, you can already see a basic dog shape being created:
Sketch in the snout and tail. This is not so hard. Just create a triangular shape for the nose and a simple line for the tail:
Draw in the legs and nose. A tip for drawing the legs is to draw a line to represent the ground. This will help you create legs that are all equal in length. And the nose is easy. It’s just a circle coloured in black above the snout:
Draw a circle for the ear. When it comes to drawing ears, dog ears can be really difficult. To simplify the process, just start with a basic circle on top of the head:
Add the mouth and ear details. Draw a triangular shape coming off the circle for the ear. Then add an extra short line at the top of the circle. This gives your dog’s ear a curved natural shape. Then add a semicircle on the left side of the head to represent the other ear:
Use a marker to outline your dog. Don’t forget to add any finer details like the whiskers and a dog collar. Once done you can use an eraser to rub out any unnecessary pencil marks on your dog drawing:
Colour in your dog drawing. This step is optional. You can leave your dog drawing in black and white or using some felt-tip pens colour in your dog:
Congratulations – You have drawn a fine-looking dog there! Now that you know how to draw an easy dog in a few steps – You can draw more and more cute dogs to fill up your whole paper! Give them spots, fur and even stripes if you like – After all, it’s your dog drawing and you could do whatever you like with it!
